Drum Winch System

This system uses two ropes, a haul rope and a trailing rope, both of which are wrapped around the winch grooved drum. The winch moves the load, by adding turns to the drum on the hauling rope and the trailing rope unwinds off the drum. Drum winches are not an endless wire rope system, and therefore do not require the ropes to be pre-tensioned to maintain friction on a surge wheel, as the grooved drum maintains the friction required to operate. The drum winch system can also be used with our trolley or with our buffer wagon, or can be used to attach the rope to man riders or to haul other equipment.
